synopsis
Geek. It's a word with a lot of connotations. It's not as bad as it used to be. Geeks are kind of cool, you know? They play video games and hack stuff and, uh, speak a language nobody else understands (which gave rise to the phrase "it's geek to me".) But there's one thing we all know about geeks — they can't rap. That is a proven scientific fact. Really.
Cherry Pi is the story of a geek and a magical hat which ignores such scientific facts. So prepare yourself for some really awful rap and some really funny rap. It's Cherry Pi, yo!
director's comments
"I'm pretty happy with how this turned out considering the fact that it was almost entirely spontaneous. All we knew was Andrew rapping pi with that hat was hilarious. There was no script. I came up with the basic structure while driving to the location. We shot all of it that day except the producer bits which were done a day or two later. The whole thing took two days to complete which made it a pretty fun and satisfying project."
trivia & references
- The idea for this video came from the lead actor's obsession with the number pi. He has previously memorized pi to 314 digits. He and the director once recorded a song called "Apple Pi" which was somewhat similar to "Cherry Pi," but was not a rap song.
- Marvin the agent is shown playing the video game "Crysis."
